If you're unaware, Skype constantly is sending all links, email address, and god knows what else to their servers to verify if they are safe (and who knows what else!). You can do this manually via the URL:
https://urlp.asm.skype.com/v1/url/info?url=urlencoded-webaddresshere
I've seen this submit e-mail addresses from long archived chats. It actually lagged out my beast computer too. Once blocked, no more lag and also helps my privacy in the future!
Open your hosts file with a text editor (I use Sublime Text).
Start --> Run --> %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
127.0.0.1 urlp.asm.skype.com
