New settings:
Static Pokemon
Settings:
Similar Strength - This will change static Pokemon with a Pokemon of similar strength,
the same as all wild/trainer Pokemon using Similar Strength (if you're curious, it
initially pulls from a pool of Pokemon with a range of -10% to +10% of the original
replaced Pokemon's BST, then expands by 5% continually until it finds a replacement).
Previously, the only option was pure Random, which is why BW1 monkeys were so unbalanced.
Now, they're basically a free Pokemon comparable to the area.
Limit Muskateers - This setting will draw from a similar strength Pokemon like the above,
but for the 3 Muskateers (Cobalion, Virizion, Terrakion, mostly relevant for BW2),
only allow the max BST to go up to 580, their original BST. This means likely the Pokemon
they are replaced with are good, but won't get into pseudo-Legendaries or Legendaries BST pools.
Checkbox settings:
Pure Random 600+ BST - This will enforce pure random (rather than similar strength)
on any Pokemon with 600+ BST. This primarily matters for Reshiram/Zekrom, where without
this setting, it'd basically mean they'd guaranteed be a legendary/psuedo-legendary.
Trainer Pokemon
Settings:
Random (Even Distribution) - This setting will attempt to place Pokemon evenly throughout
trainers, for all trainers in the game. With the standard Random setting, Pokemon are
placed based on similar BST, but there's no limit on how many times a Pokemon shows
up (so, you could encounter some Pokemon 8 times, then never encounter many Pokemon).
With this setting, Pokemon that have been placed move further down the queue, meaning
most Pokemon should appear on trainers that have similar BST. This applies to all trainers
in the game.
Random (Main-game Distribution) - This setting is the same as above, but only tracks
placement among trainers in the main game (nothing post-game). Without this setting,
many trainers from the post-game are part of the pool, and would make a standard main
-game race possibly unbalanced for placements. Choosing this setting will make the
main-game trainers have a decent representation of most Pokemon.
Wild Pokemon
Checkbox settings:
Balance shaking grass - This setting will enable changing the way shaking grass encounters
roll. Previously, relatively high BST Pokemon would appear because most shaking grass
spots were Audino, who has relatively high BST. Now, a new formula takes place:
Shaking Spot BST = (Average of (Level of encounter + Max of Level of encounter)) * 10 + 250 BST
Example: You fight a Lv11 Shaking Grass Pokemon in the Dreamyard. In vanilla, it'd
be Audino. Now, it's a generic Lv10 Pokemon, and say it's min/max level in the area
is Lv10/Lv12. The average among min/max would be 11, and Adjusted BST would be:
Adjusted BST = (11 * 10) + 250 = 360
Then, the Adjusted BST is checked against the original (to ensure the Adjusted BST
doesn't get too high), and the minimum is taken:
Adjusted BST = 360, Original BST = 445, Use Adjusted BST
Finally after this, a random Pokemon is chosen somewhere around 360 BST. This also
means up until ~Lv20, shaking spots will increase in BST until they hit Audino's original BST, 445.
Shops
All shops that are randomized are NOT the main shops (top shop in the Pokemon Centers)
that have standard items. Shops that don't have the standard shop display, such as
vending machines and the milk vendor, are not included.
Settings:
Shuffle - Takes all items present in shops and shuffle them. This adds no new ones to the pool
Randomize - Randomizes all items from the same list of items as field items
Checkbox Settings:
These are self explanatory. Balancing is up for discussion,
but we've attempted to come up with reasonable prices for items.
Likely our new race settings will be:
Static Pokemon - Similar Strength, Pure Random 600+ BST
Trainer Pokemon - Random (Main-game Distribution)
Field Settings - Randomize shops, all checkboxes
Wild Pokemon - Balance Shaking Grass
