Submersible Witches Continued - Boom Boom Pow
[There. Remember, 45 degrees.]
Socks works the controls, taking you on a course towards the further group of destroyers, though deflected by approximately 45 degrees. As you gain speed, several other Martian subs also break the surface, putting you squarely in their sights...but also in the Japanese's.
Boom! Boom! Boom! A pair of destroyers opened up on the subs, firing their five inch guns and letting loose several torpedos. The Martian subs, though more technologically advanced and tougher than human boats, were not designed for surface warfare. They crumple under fire, sinking beneath the waves before they could align themselves for an attack on your own sub.
"They're gone! Boom boom pow, fuckers!" yells Rae, practically dancing in the enclosed space of the sub's interior. You notice that additional windows opened up in the rear of the sub as well. Where these Martians got these ideas for sub design, you'll never know.
"We're not out of this yet, Lt. Caulders. Buckle down," cautions Miranda. "There could be more Martians in pursuit."
"Hmph. Can't I celebrate things going our way for once?"
Ignoring their banter, you turn back to Socks. [Anything else coming our way that you can see?]
[Not that I can tell. Nothing beyond the Harbinger slowly turning away and diving.]
[Good. Keep us going.] Now, to ensure the Japanese don't blow you out of the water... <This is CPO Kuykendall. Thanks for the assistance. Read no more enemies in the water. What would you have us do?>
Again, you get Ito on the other side. <Combat operations still under way. Come about to your nearest destroyer, maintaining distance of 100m. Do not deviate. When operations are completed, we will have further instructions.>
"Well, looks like we're going to have a wait," you tell the others. Their groans mirror your own thoughts. [Socks, take us to the nearest destroyer. Maintain 100m distance as best you can. If they don't like what we're doing, they'll pop us.]
[Your people seem awfully commanding,] he comments.
[Well, we are in an enemy sub.]
He grunts an acknowledgment and manipulates the controls.
After an hour, the Japanese guide your sub back out to sea, retreating from the islands you could barely see on the horizon. They bring you closer, carefully tossing lines to the sub. Fully secured, you're brought aboard while the Yukikaze tows your prize. Though the crew is cautious of Socks, they make no effort to attack or separate him from your group. For now.
You are all brought to the bridge where you are greeted by a young, no-nonsense-looking officer. She looks at you all from head to toe. You realize you're still dressed in rags that barely qualify as clothing.
"Well," she says, "is scantily-clad the official dress of Martian prisoners?"
>What do you say?
-Fuck you
"Is sarcastic bitch the default attitude of Japanese Naval Witches?" you respond, not ready to deal with this shit so soon. "Or is that just you?"
Your group is shocked at your outburst. Socks, amusingly, is oblivious; human interaction is a new field for him. You stare down the Japanese Officer, not willing to blink first. After a minute, you're both interrupted. "That is enough, Lt. Cmdr. Ito. Is this how you treat our honored guests?" A tall (for a Japanese) man with several years on him walks forward. You're not familiar with IJN regalia, but you peg him as an admiral. Some real top brass.
"Admiral Isaki! Sir!" Ito acknowledges, snapping a salute. "I am embarrassed by the inappropriateness of my actions." She bows.
"Do not bow, Lt. Cmdr. Ito. Serve with competence and humility instead."
"If I may, Admiral, I thought you were on the Jintsu?" asks Ito, standing back up.
"What, and refuse to greet our new friends?" Admiral Isaki turns to you and your group. "I am Rear Admiral Shunji Isaki. Welcome, friends, to my humble command." He nods his head. "We have much to discuss. Come, we shall get you some clothing and warm food. Rest until we return to shore."
"Admiral Isaki, if I might ask, where will we be returning to? And when will we be debriefed?" asks Miranda.
"Jayapura, in New Guinea. You will be debriefed immediately upon arrival; I feel MacArthur will want to speak to you all personally."
