"Naturally we started with the question: 'What do we shape the Blackwight frame after?' We shaped the original Skell frames after Humanity. It was an efficient shape. Two jointed legs and arms connected to a chassis, of course we didn't include a 'head' as that could be perceived as an obvious weak-point or control-center. With the Blackwights though, it's a bit different. We decided to use the Lyikii'd frame. Specifically the Renka'Yul caste for it's warrior-traits. Digitigrade legs for quick movement, the longer-reaching arms, and we kept the Lyikii'd's distinct triangular head. It makes for a more... aggressive look, but it give the Blackwight more identity. A distinct calling card." - Ryquo-208, Project Blackwight Development Lead.

<SUMMARY 1A.1>
"PROJECT BLACKWIGHT" - Proposed solution to the Protracted Lilim-Vollon Conflict in opposition to ineffective Skell Unit deployment.
 <SUPPLIMENTARY LOG: 1A.1>
"Blackwight Biomechs present a solution to the cost-effectiveness of Skell Units. We all know what a single Skell can do, what they are capable of. But even a MYTHIC-class Skell-Engine has it's limits. Those limits are what the Blackwight Biomechs are meant to surpass. We can construct the perfect mech for a highly specialized scenario and it would excel. But an adaptive unit that absorbs combat information on the field? We wouldn't need to keep producing billion-dollar Skells if we had that kind of adaptability." - Prof. Klaus J. Wicker, Blackwight Design Management.

"Project Blackwight is... a new step. In Amphmiycad-Augmentation technology and Piloted Mechanoids. The Lilim Foundation bridged Technology and Magic some time back. Long before many of us were alive. And quite a few of us know how long it took to make that happen, all that time and effort. Lives, resources... commitments. my Lilim co-workers tell me it wasn't easy. And now we're here. Making the next generation of Skell. And while it is a machine on paper... its not in the traditional sense. Blackwights are *alive*. And they'll be piloted by the best that the Lilim Foundation has to offer." - Dr. Jane G. Wells, Project Blackwight Design Management.

"It's alive! -*Excited clapping*- And the first thing it did was sing! I'll be the first to admit- I never thought direct Amphmiycad injection would work alongside that kind of Megawattage. But BP-01 is alive!" - Dr. Jane G. Wells, Project Blackwight Design Management.
 <COMMENTARY LOG: 22C.2/2>
"I expected a violent awakening, but... It's good to be wrong now and then. BP-01 woke up singing... Must've been having a pleasant dream. Although... For a potential wartime solution to an extant alien-threat, to wake up singing? I can't imagine BP-01 knows that it is the solution... I don't think I want it to, either..." - Prof. Klaus J. Wicker, Blackwight Design Management.
 <COMMENTARY LOG: 40D.5 "Dog and Master">
"Of course we couldn't put just anyone in. We had to be careful about who we chose to be a pilot. So we made neural-copies of both BP-01 and the selected testers and put the copies into a combat against simulated-Vollons. It seems that... 'intentful' testing individuals harmonize better with the Blackwight's neural waves. The ideal pairing could potentially be compared to a well-trained Dog and it's Master. We don't know which would be the Master, though..." - Prof. Gary R. Woodsman, Blackwight Design Management.

	*BP-01's VISUAL-RECEPTORS BLINK, INSTANTANIOUSLY THE BARE SIMULATION LANDSCAPE THROTTLES TO LIFE. DISTANT MOUNTIANS CUT INTO THE SKY AND CRATERS FORM UP-CLOSE. THE CRACKLING OF BALLISTIC AND ENERGY-BASED WEAPONS-FIRE ECHOES OVER THE RATTLE OF TANK-TRACKS AND THE ROAR OF INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINES. A CLOSE SIMULATED EXPLOSION KNOCKS THE BLACKWIGHT PROTOTYPE'S FASLE BODY TO THE GROUND. A PANICED VOICE FIGHTS AGAINST THE NOISE OF THE SIMULATED BATTLE...*
 A63: "Get up! GET UP! I need to move!"
 	*BP-01 SHAKES IT'S ARTIFICIAL BODY, DIRT AND GRIME FALLING FROM ITS CHASSIS AS IT STOOD UPRIGHT.*
 BP-01: "What- Question? What is this-"
A63: "There's no time for questions! Get up! LOOK!"
 	*SOME INTERNAL FORCE TURNED BP-01's HEAD TOWARD THE SIMULATED VOLLON FRONTLINE. A GROUP OF FOUR INSECT-LIKE HUMANOIDS WAS MAKING A B-LINE TO BP-01. LOBBING INNACURATE ENERGY-WEAPONS-FIRE IN BP-01's DIRECTION.*
 BP-01: "...Not friends... Observation. Enemy...? -Vollon... Hate... Hate...! HATE!! KILL VOLLON TARGETS!">
 	*BP-01 STOOD COMPLETELY UPRIGHT. IT'S VISUAL-FEED LIT UP WITH TARGET-TRACKING NODES. THE BLACKWIGHT'S COGNITION-LIMITERS BEGAN DEACTIVATING AS ITS FRIEND-OR-FOE SUBROUTINES FLASHED TO LIFE.*
 	*A-63 FOUGHT AGAINST BP-01'S OWN MOVEMENTS, TRYING TO WRESTLE CONTROL FROM THE SUPPOSEDLY SEMI-AUTONOMOUS BIOMEHCANICAL UNIT.*
 A63: "What are these controls doing!?"
BP-01: "VOLLONS! I AM DEATH!"
A63: "What-"
BP-COM: [BLINKDRIVE: ONLINE.]
 	*BP-01'S INTEGRATED BLINKDRIVE SURGED TO LIFE, TELEPORTING THE BLACKWIGHT DIRECTLY INTO THE BODY OF ONE OF THE FOUR SIMULATED VOLLONS, CAUSING THE TARGET TO EXPLODE IN A FLURRY OF BLUEISH GREEN VISCERA.*
 A63: "What- I can't control it...!"
BP-01: "VOLLON DREGS! I AM THE GRAIN YOU SOW! I AM THE BITTER HARVEST!"
 	*BP-01'S COGNITION-LIMITERS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. WEAPON-SYSTEMS FLASHED TO READY-STATUS IN THE BLACKWIGHT'S SHARED VISUAL-FEED.*
 BP-COM: [RESONANCE CANNON: ONLINE. RESONANCE NEEDLE: ONLINE. AMPHMYICAD-GAUNTLET: ONLINE.]
 	*A-63 DESPERATELY TRIED TO MOVE BP-01'S FRAME IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, TO NO AVAIL.*
 A63: "WHY WON'T THIS THING OBEY MY CONTROL INPUTS!?"
BP-01: "VOLLON RABBLE! SEE ME AND KNOW I AM DEATH!!"
 	*A MASSIVE TIERED NEEDLE EXTENDED FROM BP-01'S RIGHT FOREARM. EXTENDING TO A MAXIMUM LIMIT OF FOUR METERS. BP-01 SWUNG IT IN A WIDE-ARC, CUTTING DOWN THE OTHER THREE SIMULATED VOLLONS IN AN INSTANT. LIFELESS BODIES FALLING TO THE GROUND LIKE STONES.*
 A63: "I can't control this thing at all! What- What kind of mech is this!?"

 <COMMENTARY LOG 40D.5 "Dog and Master">
"I suppose it should come as no surprise... with A-63 and BP-01 being so different in the moment. A-63 wanted to run and survive. BP-01 saw the Vollons and... Well. We all know how that turned out. It was cute when it woke up, singing. But now... It scares me." - Dr. Jane G. Wells, Project Blackwight Design Management.
